Fieldwork return after COVID lockdown

Aliados is cautiously returning to the field to support our community partners to reactivate economic activities after the impact of COVID-19.

This Saturday we supported the San José de Minas Community of Practice with a Farmer Field School to incorporate Bokashi organic fertilizer into smallholder goldenberry production. This first step - soil and plant nutrition - is part of an integrated four step process to support farmers overcome a plant disease caused by Bactericera cockerelli, which has devastated organic goldenberry crops over the last year, significantly reducing farmer incomes. We believe that addressing soil and plant nutrition with Bokashi is a key first step to overcome the pest.

We look forward to continuing this path of "learning-through-doing" with the San Jose de Minas Community of Practice!
