Regenerative Agriculture Promoter Training - Atahualpa

On the 11th and 12th of April this year, Aliados brought together fourteen regenerative agriculture promoters from the Andes, Amazon, Cloud Forest, and Chocó ecosystems into a structured training program in the Atahualpa community in the Ecuadorian Andes. The Aliados promoters are a fundamental part of our team because they are responsible for supporting local farmers who are implementing regenerative agriculture. Aliados promoters are selected from participating communities and usually show high responsibility, strong interpersonal skills, and curiosity for learning. The promoter program means that when a farmer needs support or inputs for their farm, there is help close by! By building local technical and leadership capacity, we contribute to our vision of local farmers leading the ecological restoration of the Andes and Amazon ecosystems.

We quickly realized that promoters must be well-equipped to respond to local farmer needs effectively. In 2023, Aliados is thus launching a four-workshop training program to ensure promoters have what they need to support the farmers in their communities to implement regenerative agriculture.

This first workshop which took place over two days focused on the practical and theoretical elements for the preparation of organic inputs. The emphasis is on utilizing local inputs to limit costs and promote a circular economy. We were delighted that our friends from Jocotoco Foundation also joined the training to learn more about the Aliados methodology. The Aliados Programs coordinators and agronomists – Narcisa Puma and Gonzalo Torres, led the training. Thank you to everybody involved!
